Hometown Happenings

04/01/2020 – HOT HOMETOWNS on KK93

Hello Crofton! We have experienced many changes in the past couple weeks, and the Crofton Community Club is working hard to keep you up-to-date with public service announcements, closings, cancellations, and postponements. While we plan to continue with social distancing to protect the most vulnerable, we hope to connect with you via radio, social media, email, and phone. Please call your neighbors and loved ones and make sure they have what they need. Remember your local charities, churches, and businesses, and look for ways to support them, even if you cannot patronize them at this time. Be kind and be patient with service providers. You may want to call ahead before going places to make sure that they are accepting visitors. While we may not all be together, know that we are not alone.

The Crofton Senior Center will be closed to in-house meals and all activities until further notice. They will be providing home delivered meals for anyone and curbside pick-up meals for anyone. Please call by 10 am to reserve your meal. 402-388-2365. The senior center is accepting unopened, unexpired flour, sugar, napkins, paper towels, decaf Folgers, toilet paper, sandwich bags, bread, produce, and carry out containers of any size. The senior center has some frozen meals for people who may need them. They also have a shipment of shelf stable meals at no charge for people 60 years and older. Contact the senior center for more information.

The Crofton Journal will be free on their website until the quarantine is lifted.

Instead of the Easter Candy Run, the Crofton Community Club is offering an Easter Bunny Drive Through on Saturday,  April 11th from 10:30am to 11:30am. We continue to encourage social distancing, so load your kids into your car and drive to the High School parking lot (note location change!) to wave to the Easter Bunny and to get grab-and-go Easter treats. Thank you to the Crofton Community Club and its members for sponsoring this fun activity! For safety, please do not get out of your car. No walk-up traffic.

Main Street Treasures will be closed until further notice. No donations of items for sale can be accepted until they re-open.

Crofton Community School is providing free breakfast and lunch using a grab and go method for current students in Crofton Community or St. Rose Schools. Monday meal pickups will include meals for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and Thursday meal pickups will include meals for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In order to get an accurate count, people requesting meals should contact the high school office at 402-388-2440 or by email to rwilken@croftonwarriors.org by noon on the Friday before Monday pickup and by noon on the Wednesday before Thursday pickup, and please let them know which location you plan to use.

The Crofton Community Club mixer has been postponed indefinitely. There will be no April meeting.

Participate in some community-wide social distancing activities: Put hearts in your windows for healthcare workers through April 2nd. April 3rd, through April 5th, put a letter in your window for Community Scrabble. Starting April 6th, put stuffed animals in your windows for people to enjoy a safari.

Crofton Community Club Bucks make GREAT gifts for teachers, pastors, employees, grown children, & friends! They can be redeemed at any of our member locations, keeping dollars right here in our community. A full list of members are available on our website www.crofton-nebraska.com. Please call ahead to order: Larry Cooper at Farmers & Merchants State Bank. 402-388-4344. These “Bucks” work just like a check and cannot be redeemed for cash, so it is best to order in small increments of $10-$20

The Crofton Community Club is always looking for individuals and businesses to strive for the future of Crofton. Dues are reasonable and help support activities in and around the Crofton area. Visit our website or like us on Facebook and print off a new member form, or ask a current member for information. We would love to add you or your business to our list of members!
